Now, let's take a closer look at our In The Swim CRC Pro-Series Chlorinated Rubber-Base Pool Paint.
This self-priming paint is designed as a re-coat for existing rubber-base finishes. For re-coating an existing interior, one coat is suggested, while a second coat may be required on unpainted or porous surfaces.
Chlorinated Rubber-Base Pool Paint offers excellent chemical resistance and color retention, allowing the paint to last an average of 3 years. It covers approximately 250 square feet per gallon and should be applied with a 9" roller equipped with a 3/8" nap.
The paint has an indefinite pot life as long as it is properly sealed. Allow 4-6 hours of curing time between coats, and a minimum of 10 days of curing before filling the pool.
Here are the steps to paint your pool:
Determine the area size: Measure the length and width to calculate the square footage, taking into account the surface porosity and smoothness.
Drain the water: Rent or purchase a submersible pump and drain the pool when the outside temperature is below 85°F.
Prepare for paint: Remove perimeter return jets, pool/spa lights, main drain covers, and tape off the tile line, step/bench tiles, return lines, and skimmer mouth.
Apply the primer coat: Roll the primer onto the interior surface using a 9" roller with a 1/2" nap, starting with the walls and ending with the floor. Allow 24-48 hours for the primer to cure.
Paint the interior: Start with the walls and finish with the floor, allowing the recommended time between coats for the paint to cure and harden.
Fill and balance: Once the paint has fully cured, fill the pool and test the water, adjusting the balance as needed.
Remember, this Chlorinated Rubber-Base Pool Paint is designed to be used as an upgrade for previously painted rubber-base finishes, providing a self-priming, long-lasting solution.
